Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR), an award-winning independent music company, today announced a new publishing deal with songwriter and artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich for his future works.
Based in the U.K., Leftwich has been a strong voice in the international indie-folk scene for more than a decade as both an artist and songwriter. With five albums released under his own name, Leftwich has earned praise for his vulnerability and authentic songwriting. He first earned widespread acclaim in 2011 with his U.K. Top 40 debut album, Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm. Leftwich is currently working on a new solo album. Beyond his solo work, Leftwich has become a valued collaborator, co-writing with artists including The 1975, Holly Humberstone, CMAT, and Kodaline. He notably co-wrote “Oh Caroline” by The 1975, which reached the Top 30 on U.K. Singles chart and on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. Leftwich has worked closely with Holly Humberstone, including co-writing her most recent releases, “Cruel World,” released this past Friday, and “Miss You to Death,” written for Apple TV’s hit series Buccaneers.
On the deal, Leftwich said, “I’m grateful to have signed a new publishing deal with Reservoir. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know some of the Reservoir family internationally over the past few years through many different relationships and, in particular, through my brother Jon Green in Nashville. Charlie, Tiff, Russ, Beth and Greg have this kind of obsession and assiduous regard for song and artist that I find attractive, inspiring and rare.” He added, “Our multiple different conversations over the years have always centered around the depth and weight in music as opposed to the noise from the game and have continued over and through holidays, weekends and evenings. Having a group of people on this journey who get and see inside the few minutes of a song with me is a wonderful thing, and I’m grateful for their trust and belief in me.”
Reservoir U.K. Head of Creative Charlie Pinder also commented, “We’re so excited to be working with Ben and his fantastic manager Mark Hayton. Ben is that rare and powerful combination of talent, ambition, and fearlessness, not only in his own work as an artist but as a collaborator too. We feel that Ben is really hitting his stride, and we’re excited to be joining him on the next stage of his career.”
