You can stream the mixed and mastered album on Spotify or watch an expertly directed music video, but nothing beats scoring tickets to seeing your favorite artist live and feeling the energy in the room, from the windows to the walls. If you’re looking for ways to spend your Ticketmaster vouchers, we’ve highlighted some exceptional live acts that are not to be missed below:
It is always a party when Irish electronic group Le Galaxie take the stage. Donning matching outfits, the guys never give less than 100% to a show—even when lead singer Michael spent the night in the hospital the evening before–true story! Whether it’s an intimate venue on the NYC’s Lower East Side or arenas filled with screaming fans, Le Galaxie tear up the stage every. single. time.
In their own words: “Never a show…always a party”, and anyone who has seen them live will agree. Don’t miss your chance to party with the Ducks later this Summer at NYC’s Electric Zoo and Philly’s Made In America Festival.
Creed front-man Scott Stapp’s solo shows are nothing short of passionate and concert-goers wholeheartedly agree, as one fan tweeted: “I’ve been to a lot of concerts so I say this truthfully, @ScottStapp put on a hell of a show at the @Sherman_Theater #ProofOfLifeTour.” Just scroll through any of the live shots on via the Instagram feed to get a taste:
From busking in the subway to supporting the likes of James Morrison and X Ambassadors on tour, Kelvin Jones’ performances have run the gamut, since being discovered on Reddit just a few years ago. This Summer, Jones will take his act on the road once again, this time getting even closer to his fans when The Living Room Tour kicks off at the end of the month. The tour will see Jones perform intimate sets in fans’ homes. He also has a headlining tour with a full band lined up across Europe this Fall.
Electro-pop duo Phantogram have been heralded for their inventive ways to bring audience and performer closer. The pair teamed up with Microsoft last year to create a unique live experience for their fans that mixes new technology, visual art, and sound to create “a real psychological experience for the listener.” Check out the video below to hear Josh and Sarah explain more:
Joey Bada$$ and Statik Selektah
Reservoir hip-hop heavyweights Joey Bada$$ and Statik Selektah masterfully dominate the stage apart, but when they team up (and they frequently do), they pair always knock it out of the park. Peep the performance below to catch Joey’s rhymes + Statik’s beats from 2015’s Woo Hah! Festival in the Netherlands:
British songstress Lucy Rose has always had an intimate relationship with her fans, even recently embarking on a fan-booked tour of South America & Mexico. She spent the Spring of 2016 playing in small venues all coordinated by fans who then put her up for the night in their homes. Lucy tells The Line Of Best Fit, “It’s not about success or record sales, but about truly having an impact on someone’s life.”
It’s hard to describe multi-instrumentalist and composer Nitin Sawhney’s live show, but ‘captivating’ is one word that comes to mind. Performances of Sawhney’s work masterfully blend his brilliant instrumentation with guest vocalists like Nicki Wells’ dreamy vocals. A-ha fans flocked to venues across Europe this year, as the band bounced from city to city in support of their latest album Cast In Steel. The tour delighted fans and critics alike; The Guardian designated it a “joyful comeback” that earned 4-star praise, while one peek at the #CastInSteelTour Twitter and Instagram feeds show fans were “mesmerized” at the “fantastic” and “memorable” performances.
