STONE TEMPLE PILOTS RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘PERDIDA’ CO-WRITTEN & CO-PRODUCED BY FRONTMAN JEFF GUTT
Date:
Stone Temple Pilots are back with a fresh sound on new acoustic album Perdida, with all 10 tracks co-written and/or co-produced by frontman Jeff Gutt.
Billboard notes “with a new frontman and a new album under their belts, Stone Temple Pilots had once again resurrected themselves in the face of adversity.” AP speaks highly of the cuts, saying, “these 10 songs show off the musicianship of the band and its member’s versatility, sounding organically acoustic, not reverse-engineered.”
Furthermore, Billboard also describes the project as “not the kind of lyrics that would sound convincing if simply read off a sheet; they require a lot from Gutt as a singer and interpreter. He rises to the occasion on both fronts, powering through the chorus of relatively upbeat lead single ‘Fare Thee Well’ and pulling back on the somber, classically tinged title track, dipping into his lower register as orchestral strings swell behind him.”
Jeff Gutt’s previous work with Stone Temple Pilots includes their self-titled re-introduction in 2018.
