Date:
Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble kicked off their Summer tour at Tanglewood, Massachusetts this week. The ten-city tour will take them across the U.S., culminating in a performance at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on August 21st. As part of the program line-up, the ensemble will be performing an original arrangement of the classic Billy Strayhornand Duke Ellington song “Take The ‘A’ Train”.
The ensemble debuted their innovative cover of the jazz standard last year in celebration of Strayhorn’s centennial at a benefit concert supporting Silkroad. Reservoir President Golnar Khosrowshahi serves as President and Chair of the non-profit, which is dedicated to exploring how the arts can advance global understanding through musical performance, learning programs, and cultural entrepreneurship.
