RESERVOIR TRACKS AT TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL
Date:
For movie lovers and professionals across the globe, the month of April points to one event: the Tribeca Film Festival. As it does every year, Tribeca will screen some of the most artistically relevant and ambitious movies made over the previous year, with screenings from today through the 26th. Three features include Reservoir catalog cuts to complement their visual narratives…
Live Fast, Draw Yung (April 17, 22, 24, 25)
The short documentary Live Fast, Draw Yung follows the life of six-year-old portraitist Yung Lenox, whose specialty is recreating hip-hop album covers. With artwork including releases from Cam’ron and N.W.A, it was evident that the soundtrack would be rife with rhythm. Sure enough, the film features the Reservoir tracks “3000” and “I Got To Tell You”, performed by Dr. Octagon, creating a trippy groove over which to portray Lenox’s life and his work.
Side note: the film’s title seems reminiscent of another Reservoir catalog favorite…don’t you agree?
Man Up (April 19, 20, 22, 23, 26)
Man Up is a feature length romantic comedy starring Lake Bell (In A World…, No Strings Attached) and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). The film, whose premise revolves around our hero misidentifying his blind date, features the equally whimsical track “Upside Down”, performed by Paloma Faith. The combination of the cut’s minor key and Faith’s cheery delivery makes it quirky, cute, and perfect for this unique comedy.
Song of Lahore (April 18, 19, 21, 23)
The documentary Songs of Lahore showcases the stories of musicians in the Pakistani city of Lahore. Once renown for its music, the city’s creative community suffered after the Islamization of Pakistan in the ‘70s. The film highlights those musicians who were brave enough to play on anyway, and includes the track “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver.
