RESERVOIR ANNOUNCES PUBLISHING DEAL WITH HIT SONGWRITER-PRODUCER LEWIS THOMPSON
Date:
Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR), an award-winning independent music company, today announced a worldwide publishing deal with songwriter-producer Lewis Thompson for his future works.
With over four billion streams and nine Top 10 U.K. hits to his name, Thompson has worked with some of the biggest names in pop. In the past 18 months Thompson’s music has achieved commercial and critical success, with records topping the charts and earning industry awards nominations. Notably, his collaborations “Head & Heart” by Joel Corry feat. MNEK reached #1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and “Bed” by Joel Corry, RAYE, and David Guetta earned nominations for Brit Awards Song of the Year and Ivor Novello PRS For Music Most Performed Work. In 2022, Thompson was also recognized as the ASCAP U.K. Songwriter of the Year for his work on those hit tracks. In 2023, Thompson notably co-wrote and co-produced “I Wrote A Song” by Mae Muller, which cracked the Top 10 on the U.K. Singles Chart and ultimately was the U.K.’s entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2023. His most recent co-write “Ten (Get Back Up)” by Nathan Dawe feat. MNEK was released earlier this month.
In addition to his producing and writing career, Thompson has his own artist project. He released his first single, “Take Me Back,” in 2022 in collaboration with David Guetta. The single has since garnered over 35 million streams on Spotify alone. In May 2023, Thompson teamed up with top U.K. singer Becky Hill on “Side Effects,” which was streamed over a million times in the first 24 hours post-release. This year, Thompson has released several singles, with his recent release “Love Hurt Repeat” with Alle Farben becoming a German radio hit. Thompson will continue releasing music under his own artist project.
On signing with Reservoir, Thompson said, “I’m delighted to be starting this new chapter with Reservoir. After meeting Russell, Charlie, Donna, and the wider global team, I was blown away by their passion and drive for success. We speak every day, and I’m really excited about what we can achieve in the coming years. I feel incredibly proud to be part of such a well-respected and independent publisher and to have this dedicated team on the journey with me.”
Reservoir Senior Creative Manager Russell Hunt also commented, “Lewis has established himself as a proven hitmaker in the U.K., working with some of the biggest European songwriters and artists. His talent, ambition and dedication to his craft are second to none, and our global Reservoir team is excited to support him as he earns even more international acclaim.”
“We are pleased to welcome Lewis to the family, joining a roster of talent that has grown into a global tour de force,” added U.K. Head of Creative Charlie Pinder. “It is an incredibly exciting time and one that’s come on the back of hard work and collaboration across borders.”
Thompson joins many talented songwriters and artists, who, with the support of the global creative team, have had numerous recent activity and successes in the U.K. Notably, indie singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri continues to earn recognition as a rising star in the U.K. following the release of her highly anticipated debut album, What a devastating turn of events, which features collaborations by her roster mates Leroy Clampitt and Jonah Summerfield and debuted in the Top 20 in the U.K. Lucy Rose and Liz Lawrence have also released new albums this year in April and June, respectively. In addition, the roster has contributed to many commercially successful songs, like Top 10 U.K. hit and #1 Big Top 40 song “Alibi” by Ella Henderson feat. Rudimental (co-written by Olivia Sebastianelli and RuthAnne), U.S. dance hit “Lovers in a Past Life” by Calvin Harris and Rag’n’bone Man (co-written by Jon Green), Kylie Minogue’s #1 album Tension (featuring many co-writes by Jon Green and Cutfather), Rag’n’Bone Man’s single “What Do You Believe In” (co-written by Serban Cazan and Oak Felder), current radio hit “Balance” by Wilkinson feat. North (co-written by Josh Record and Olivia Sebastianelli), and Sabrina Carpenter’s five-week U.K. #1 “Espresso” (co-written by Steph Jones). Each of these releases showcases the incredible talent on Reservoir’s roster and the opportunities for collaboration cultivated by the global creative team.
