RESERVOIR AND BIG LIFE CO-SIGN BRITISH SINGER-SONGWRITER JORDAN MACKAMPA
Date:
Reservoir, together with Big Life, announces the signing of British singer-songwriter Jordan Mackampa to a worldwide publishing deal. The deal includes rights to Mackampa’s entire catalog, including debut album, Foreigner and new singles “Over & Out” and “Marks.”
In March, the London-based Mackampa released his debut LP, Foreigner, a collection of soul-pop influenced tracks inspired by his Congolese roots, led by singles “Parachute,” “What Am I,” and “Under.” Mackampa first broke onto the scene in 2016 with “Same Faces” catching the attention of Beats tastemaker Julie Adenuga. He released the EP, Physics, later that year, which included breakout single “What Could Have Been,” followed by 2017’s EP, Tales from the Broken. Since then, Mackampa has released a steady stream of singles including the inspirational “Battlecry,” which was featured as the theme song for BBC One’s military drama, Our Girl, in addition to a global 2019 Levi’s campaign.
Now, Mackampa returns with two new tracks, releasing a double A-side release, “Over & Out” and “Marks” due out October 16th, with an EP to follow in the new year. To date, he has amassed over 80 million streams on Spotify, and earned support from NPR, KCRW, Rolling Stone France, NME, CLASH, The Telegraph, BBC Introducing, The Line Of Best Fit, and more.
On stage, Mackampa has sold out headline shows in London, and played supporting slots at notorious venues festivals globally including Village Underground, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Hyde Park’s British Summertime, The Great Escape, Kaltern Pop, Cardinal Sessions, Mittsommers, and more. Prior to the global health crisis, he was on US tour, playing tracks from the new LP, and supporting British indie-rock band Amber Run. He was expected to make his official SXSW debut in March 2020.
“I am super honoured and proud to be joining the Reservoir/Big Life family,” said Mackampa. “It’s been great to expand my writing muscles and branch out and work with new writers, with a creative force behind me that I know I can rely on. I’m so excited to be on this journey with them both!”
“We are delighted to sign Jordan to our joint venture with Big Life,” said Reservoir UK Managing Director Annette Barrett. “A vibrant, soulful talent. Definitely one to watch!”
“Jordan is an incredible young songwriter and a remarkable artist,” echoed Tim Parry, CEO of Big Life. “I predict big things in his future and it’s a thrill to watch his star rise, as fans continue to discover his many talents. We are so excited to be working with him, alongside our partners in Reservoir.”
