NITIN SAWHNEY WINS IVOR NOVELLO LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Reservoir writer, producer, and recording artist Nitin Sawhney has recieved the prestigious Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Ivor Novello Awards, which took place on May 18th in London, is an annual awards ceremony celebrating songwriters and composers presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, & Authors.
Accepting the lifetime achievement award from presenter Andy Serkis, Sawhney stated that he “had the most blessed and fortunate life through music, even when times were tough otherwise” and that music is a “passport to possibility”.
In an exclusive interview with Music Week, he spoke further on the accolades, stating “The Ivor Novello Awards are the awards that I respect the most, because it’s from composers and songwriters.” Additionally Sawhney noted the fulfilling aspect of having his musical body of work recognized as one that spans a “broad range of mediums” and genres.
Upcoming projects for Nitin Sawhney include the transformation of his 2015 album Dystopian Dream into a dance production premiering in September at the Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg.
