MARIAH CAREY RELEASES ‘ME. I AM MARIAH… THE ELUSIVE CHANTEUSE’
Date:
Today, Mariah Carey released the much-anticipated Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, marking the pop icon’s first new studio album since her 2010 compilation, Merry Christmas II You. The album features a diverse selection of songs, and brings in top-tier acts for guest appearances, such as R&B heavyweight Miguel, New York rapper Nas, and R&B diva Mary J. Blige. Showcasing Carey’s genre-defying talent, the album takes the listener on a journey through contemporary hip-hop, soaring power ballads, and is filled with catchy pop hooks. The underlying theme of the project is inspired by a drawing Carey created at the innocent age of three, which is juxtaposed with her current cultural standing as an “elusive chanteuse.”
Among the songs delivered in Me. I Am Mariah… is a poignant pop ballad titled “Meteorite,” which builds upon a sample of the Reservoir catalog track, “Going Up In Smoke,” penned by Philly soul songwriter Norman Harris and performed by former Temptations vocalist Eddie Kendricks. “Meteorite” has already started to gain significant momentum, most notably inspiring a remix by rapper and hip-hop producer Q-Tip, available for streaming below:
