MARGO PRICE RELEASES NEW ALBUM STRAYS
Date:
Earlier this month, Reservoir and One Riot’s Margo Price released her highly-anticipated album, Strays, featuring several songs co-written by roster mate and husband, Jeremy Ivey.
Buzz around the album picked up as early as August 2022, when Price released her first single “Been to the Mountain,” co-written by Ivey. The album’s second single “Change of Heart,” also co-written by Ivey, was widely praised, contributing to much of the anticipation surrounding the release. In December, “Change of Heart” landed at #1 on the Americana charts, where it has stayed for 10 consecutive weeks to date. “Change of Heart” also earned Price a spot on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay at #29. Additionally, the final single “Lydia” was named one of the best songs of 2022 by The New York Times. With the success of the singles and weeks ahead of its release, Strays was named by TIME as one of the most anticipated albums of 2023.
Upon release, Strays climbed to #1 on the Americana charts, while debuting at #30 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, #12 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums, and #1 on the iTunes Country Chart.
The album has been critically acclaimed by countless outlets, with Vulture calling it “another impressive showcase for Price’s skills as author and troubadour, featuring volcanic vocal performances and sharp character studies.” Strays was also highly praised by The New York Times, which called Price “The Unstoppable, Unsinkable, Uninhibited Margo Price,” adding, “Strays struts through big-hearted indie country, honky-tonk stomp and ’70s guitar-explosion psychedelia.”
