With the release of their 6th album We Were Here, Turin Brakes are arguably veterans of the indie / folk genre amassing a global following with their signature brand of sweet harmonies, reflective lyrics and memorable guitar riffs.

The band was formed by long time friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, performing alongside long time collaborators Rob Allum and Eddy Myer.

They could never have predicted the kind of attention and critical praise their first full length studio album ‘The Optimist LP’, released in 2001 would receive. The album spawned multiple top 40 UK singles and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize before being certified Gold by the BPI. This lead to numerous tours across both the US and Europe and firmly put Turin Brakes at the forefront of the indie / folk scene.

The next decade saw the band release another 5 studio albums including the critically acclaimed ‘Ether Song’ album which reached number 4 in the UK albums chart. Multiple tours including Australia and New Zealand helped expand their ever growing fan base whilst an appearance on the cast of Band Aid 20 alongside Sir Paul McCartney, Radiohead and Robbie Williams helped turn Turin brakes into a house hold name.

2010 saw the band join indie label Cooking Vinyl and release their fifth studio album ‘Outbursts’ which was followed by festival appearances in the UK and Italy including Glastonbury and Summer Sundae.

In 2013 the band released their sixth full length album ‘We Were here’ after much anticipation. They went on to sell out numerous shows for the UK Album tour, as well as announce a number of US and Europe dates including a performance at SXSW in2014, which promises to be another exciting year for them.
