LEGENDARY BAND A-HA SIGNS WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH RESERVOIR
Date:
Reservoir is pleased to announce the signing of a new deal with legendary band a-ha. The group best known for its 1985 hit “Take On Me” will see six albums globally represented by Reservoir, including the 2015 release Cast in Steel.
Few bands can boast the legacy or longevity of Norwegian group a-ha. Since their debut single ”Take On Me” hit number one in the U.S. and around the world in 1985, the band has gone on to sell over 80 million records worldwide. Over the years, the group has earned a slew of notable industry acknowledgments, including two Grammy Award nominations, two World Music Awards, three BMI Awards, eight MTV Video Music Awards, nine Norwegian Spellemannprisen awards, and the Q Magazine Inspirational Award. In 2012, band members Morten, Magne, and Pål were appointed Kings of the First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav for their contributions to Norwegian music.
Thirty years on from their breakthrough success, a-ha is gracing the charts again with their critically acclaimed top ten album Cast In Steel, while delighting fans on the first leg of their latest world tour.
a-ha’s signing with Reservoir will see the band once again partner with Reservoir/Reverb Music Managing Director Annette Barrett, who signed the group to Warner/Chappell Music in the ‘90s and again in the early aughts.
“It’s exciting to be working with a-ha again,” Barrett says. “Their longevity is the stuff of legend. They’ve built a following that has endured not just in the obvious territories, but in those that often get overlooked, like South America. It will be interesting to see what new publishing opportunities arise at this stage in their legacy.”
Reservoir Founder & President Golnar Khosrowshahi adds, “As one of the most distinct, trailblazing international pop bands to arise out of the past three decades, a-ha is a welcome and valued addition to our catalog. To represent a band of this caliber and lasting influence is in perfect alignment with Reservoir’s commitment to building a collection of longstanding, internationally relevant hit songs.”
