“Land of the Free”, the album’s second single, was performed by Joey and fellow Reservoir roster-mate Statik Selektah earlier this week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to a captivated studio audience. The album has been praised for taking political and social themes head on, with publications like Complex noting, “As each track rolled out, it was clear Joey had something powerful to say…while also delivering a message of hope.” Furthermore, Consequence of Sounddeclares, with this record, “Joey Bada$$ is no longer just a kid inspired by early ’90s hip-hop trying to outrap a never-ending army of whack MCs. Now he’s a self-assured adult who is using his art to examine the world around him.”
