HOLLOWAYS FOUNDER-GUITARIST ROB SKIPPER DIES AT 28
Date:
Reservoir regrets to report that Rob Skipper, guitarist and founding member of British rock band The Holloways, has passed away at age 28. The cause of death has yet to be released, but music industry outlets like NME and Billboard are already reporting what information is available–that former Holloways agent Matt Bates posted a simple tribute to Rob via Instagram, reading: “I’m so sorry to hear the terrible news today. Robb was always a true gentleman”.
Reservoir attained The Holloways’ catalog in 2010 with the acquisition of TVT Records. Since then, the band’s cheeky, raucous compositions have become a veritable staple of the catalog. While The Holloways released only two albums during their seven-year tenure, their sound–bright but gritty, and always a bit tongue-in-cheek–remains unmistakable, and adds an invaluable element of Brit-rock texture to Reservoir’s collection. Songs like “Jukebox Sunshine” and “Generator” can barely contain the group’s energy, while cuts like “Knock Me Down” showcase their keen ability to breathe a bit of rock-and-roll into gentler fare.
We will forever respectfully remember Rob Skipper and his contributions to Reservoir and rock and roll.
