Date:
‘Tis the season…for Grammy nominations!
This year was huge for it-songs, with hits like Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” making the rounds on an endless loop. Those tracks and more are reflected in the just-announced list of nominees for February’s Grammy awards.
Join us in celebrating the Reservoir catalog tracks that earned a nod this year:
Best Rap Album – Schoolboy Q, Oxymoron
Reservoir writer/rapper 2 Chainz makes an appearance on Schoolboy Q’s widely praised major label debut, performing “What They Want”, a swaggering anthem over an eerie, minimal beat.
Best Urban Contemporary Album – Chris Brown, X
Danja assists X, the latest release from Chris Brown, with two futuristic tracks called “Add Me In” and “Stereotype”. “Don’t Think They Know”, featuring the late Aaliyah‘s signature vocals, also appears on the tracklist.
Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album – Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek
This year’s album by legendary jazz standards singer Tony Bennett and contemporary dance-pop icon Lady Gaga features “Lush Life”, a catalog highlight from composer and Ellington collaborator Billy Strayhorn, whose centennial year Reservoir will celebrate throughout 2015.
Best World Music Album – Anoushka Shankar, Traces Of You
Reservoir’s newest signee, Nitin Sawhney, leant his acclaimed production and co-writing chops to Anoushka Shankar’s Best World Music contender, Traces of You.
