Saturday night marked the 2019 Indie Music Awards and Canadian EDM duo DVBBS were awarded top honors, receiving the coveted ‘Single of the Year’ award for their hit single “IDWK” with Blackbear. The ceremony, held annually during Canadian Music Week, recognizes the best of all Canadian and international independent music.

Released last summer, Billboard noted the single’s instant appeal as “the kind of summer anthem that burns slow and lingers like your ex’s perfume. It’s an instant creeper. It’s going to live under your skin and between your ears, ensuring you’re never really ready to move on to the next.” DVBBS further acknowledged, “To walk away with a record like ‘IDWK’ is something we are so proud of. We both stepped outside of our comfort zone on this record. I think that’s why it came out so special.”
