DRAKE AND 2 CHAINZ LEAD A RESERVOIR-HEAVY SLATE OF BET AWARD NOMINEES
Date:
Nominees for the 2013 BET Awards were announced Tuesday, revealing a list lush with Reservoir writers, titles, and performers.
Headlining with twelve nominations is Drake, most notably for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Best Collaboration on the smash “No Lie” with Reservoir writer 2 Chainz – who is himself nominated in eight categories, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist alongside Drake, Future, and “F**kin’ Problems” co-performers Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky. “Problems” itself is also a Best Collaboration contender.
Also up for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist are Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Chris Brown, each of whom has performed a number of hits penned by Reservoir writers. In the Female Best R&B Pop Artist category, “Naughty Girl” Beyoncé finds herself pitted against fellow pop-queen Rihanna, whose Platinum-certified album Unapologetic features a memorable Blackground hook on the track “Jump.”
Additional recognitions include Best Female Hip Hop Artist nominee Nicki Manaj, who worked with 2 Chainz on the eternally catchy “Beez in the Trap,” and Best Actor mainstay Jamie Foxx, who collaborated with Blackground writer Ginuwine on a number of tracks for his 2005 Unpredictable album.
The 2013 BET Awards air in Sunday, June 30. The complete list of nominees can be found here.
