DEPECHE MODE PLAYS ‘LIVE ON LETTERMAN’
Date:
Late night television has always been a kind of Mecca for recording artists. A must-do when it comes to promotional touring, late night TV allows acts to showcase their musical talents and memorable personalities on couches alongside some of television’s most famous faces.
Still, as even the most time-tested traditions can often use revamping, late night TV continues to evolve with new media. A shining example is CBS’ Live On Letterman, a Late Show With David Letterman spin-off full concert-streaming web series living on the CBS website.
British electropop quartet Depeche Mode took advantage of both outlets last night, stopping by the Late Show last night in support of their new album, Delta Machine, and accompanying tour. The band, including Reverb songwriter Pete Gordeno, performed the single “Heaven” on-air, then continued the party on Live On Letterman in a forty-five minute-plus set. They’ll then continue on to SXSW, where they’ll be visiting for the first time.
