Iconic hip–hop trio De La Soul announced details for their forthcoming, long-anticipated new album, And The Anonymous Nobody, due out later this summer on Rough Trade Records. The album will feature a host of guest collaborators, including Reservoir writer and performer 2 Chainz, who rhymes on a cut called “Whoodeeni”. Snoop Dogg, Usher, Jill Scott, and David Byrne of the Talking Heads are among the other names that will appear on the record.

In an interview with Okayplayer, De La Soul’s Maseo divulges the details of the Chainz collab:

“Initially we were just trying to get him for a chorus, but then he was like, ‘Yo, man, I got to do a verse.‘ Coming from De La are you kidding me? I think this is like everybody’s opportunity to really give us some real MC sh*t….Give everybody an assessment on how he really is as a MC and regardless of what he is doing overall as an artist, he’s still truly an MC. That’s why I say, the rest of the world knows 2 Chainz but I’ve got Tity Boi on my record.“

And The Anonymous Nobody is available for pre-order now and will be released August 26.
