CULTURE MATTERS: RESERVOIR SIGNS MIGOS’ TAKEOFF AND OFFSET TO GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEALS
Date:
NEW YORK, February 16, 2017–Reservoir is thrilled to announce that it has signed Migos’ Takeoff and Offset to worldwide publishing deals. Reservoir will represent Takeoff (Kirsnik Ball) and Offset’s (Kiari Cephus) individual and collective catalogs, including the group’s wildly successful and chart-topping, smash hit, “Bad and Boujee”, and No. 1 album, Culture.
“Migos is without a doubt the hottest hip-hop group in the game right now,” said Reservoir SVP of A&R and Catalog Development Faith Newman, who brought the rappers to the roster. “I can’t wait to work with Takeoff and Offset to help them capitalize on their huge success.”
Since bursting onto the mainstream hip-hop scene in 2013, Migos has released a string of successful singles, including “Versace,” “Fight Night,” and “Look At My Dab”, which gained worldwide attention when Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton popularized the “dab” dance move. Most recently, Migos’ first single, “Bad and Boujee”, from their second studio album, Culture, quickly evolved into an internet phenomenon, earning praise from actor Donald Glover at the 2017 Golden Globes and garnering over 350 million streams in the U.S. alone, giving the group their first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Culture, which was released on January 27, 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, features guest appearances from several hip-hop heavy weights, including fellow Reservoir writer 2 Chainz, DJ Khaled, Gucci Mane, Travis Scott and Lil Uzi Vert. The group’s burgeoning second single off the album, “T-Shirt”, has quickly climbed the charts, racking up over 65 million U.S. streams and landing in the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
“Takeoff and Offset are excited to join forces with Reservoir,” said Kevin “Coach K” Lee, COO of Migos’ label home Quality Control Music. “I’ve personally known Faith for a long time and know how passionate she is about creating new opportunities for artists. Faith and the entire Reservoir team will play a big role in supporting Takeoff and Offset’s global brand.”
