Position: Royalties Coordinator
Location: New York, NY (On-Site)

The Position

This full-time position will report to the Manager of Royalties and is based in Reservoir’s office headquarters in New York.  Reservoir employees work on a hybrid in-office schedule. This is not a remote position. The primary focus of this position will be maintaining Reservoir’s database in Music Maestro, while collaborating with the wider team and departments across the company to continually assess and improve data infrastructure. It includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain incoming deposits from multiple bank accounts by date and order received
  • Identify source of incoming payments and retrieve statements from corresponding portals/emails
  • Set up generic imports using Microsoft Excel and assist with daily statement entry process into internal royalty system
  • Enter sync payments into internal royalty system using its corresponding license terms
  • Assist with income statement matching as it relates to entered statements in internal royalty system & ensure the use of proper song titles/rates when entering payments and matching
  • Handle client’s administrative needs (i.e., update internal royalty system with client details (email address, mailing address, bank details))
  • Handle interdepartmental requests for royalty related documents/statements as needed
  • Assist with tracking payments and statement delivery from various Master income sources

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of administrative experience within the music industry in a royalty capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree (music business or related field preferred)
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to handle high volume of data-input with accurate execution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Vistex’s Music Maestro (not required but preferred)
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook,) Tableau (preferred) with strong Excel skills required
  • Handles and safeguards highly confidential and sensitive or proprietary information
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and execute on tasks that involve multiple, diverse assignments while producing quality work
  • Genuine interest in music and the music industry trends, and development

Compensation

An annual base salary commensurate with skills and experience of $50K to 55K, plus bonus and competitive benefits, will be offered to the successful hire.

Position: Director of Copyright
Location: New York, NY (On-Site)

The Position
Reservoir is seeking a Director of Copyright to lead its copyright operations within its music publishing division. This role will oversee the delivery of copyright data to global partners, manage publishing conflicts, communicate with clients, enhance revenue opportunities, and ensure accurate administration of catalog metadata. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in copyright administration, extensive knowledge of industry standards (e.g., CWR, catalog takeover and conflict resolution processes), and a track record of optimizing revenue collection through proactive copyright management. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of CWR (Common Works Registration) files to global music users, collection societies, and other partners, while ensuring compliance with evolving industry standards.
  • Manage the circulation of Letters of Direction (LODs) to confirm ownership splits for new acquisitions and catalog updates while tracking approvals and delivery statuses across partners.
  • Lead the resolution of publishing conflicts across all collection societies, DSPs, and direct licensing partners, ensuring accurate ownership claims and maximizing revenue collection.
  • Strengthen relationships with service partners and industry collectives to improve the identification of unclaimed uses and to optimize copyright claiming processes across all revenue sources.
  • Serve as the point of contact for songwriters and their representatives to ensure excellence in administration services.
  • Manage and mentor copyright department employees and interns, delegating tasks effectively while fostering professional growth and ensuring department priorities align with company objectives.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Business or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in copyright administration within the music publishing industry.
  • Strong understanding of copyright claiming processes, CWR management, administration changes, and music metadata standards.
  • Experience resolving conflicts at global collection societies, DSPs, and other digital platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills when working with clients and internal teams.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience managing teams.
  • Established relationships with collection societies and industry service providers.
  • A passion for music and a commitment to ensuring songwriters and rights holders receive proper credit and compensation.

Compensation
An annual base salary commensurate with skills and experience in the range of $75K to $90K, plus bonus and competitive benefits, will be offered to the successful hire.

Position: Recorded Music Internship
Location: SoHo, New York, NY/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • Reservoir Media Management, Inc. is seeking a recorded music intern to help support the label marketing and digital operations teams. This internship will sit within the recorded music division of Reservoir Media, which includes Chrysalis Records (frontline and catalog), Tommy Boy Records, and more.
  • Reservoir’s Summer internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in-person or hybrid in-person/remote. Recorded Music Intern Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on consumer behavior, marketing trends, digital and social media developments and specific industry/client business to enhance sales probability
    • Assist with D2C website (release descriptions/social media links/gathering content)
    • Creating marketing materials, one sheets, custom graphics and video assets for promotional opps & social media
    • Support metadata quality assurance across recorded music catalogs within content management system
    • Conduct label copy and rights provenance research for legacy recordings as
    • Support the digital ops team regarding the delivery of recorded music catalogs to DSPs
    • Ad hoc projects as needed

    • Assisting in monthly and quarterly royalty runs and expense reporting

Position: Licensing & Copyright Internship

  • The Licensing & Copyright internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in person or hybrid.
  • Licensing & Copyright Interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Researching songs, composers, and publishers in PRO/CMO databases and other online sources
    • Assisting in onboarding new clients to Reservoir’s system as well as entering new song and recording data for existing clients in Music Maestro
    • Importing registration acknowledgement files from PROs and isolate and report on any errored registrations
    • Claiming songs & associated recordings at various sources such as YouTube, TikTok, Meta, and Spotify Publishing Analytics
    • Reviewing different types of publishing agreements such as Admin vs CoPub
    • Helping track the use of Reservoir’s works on both licensed and unlicensed platforms
    • Processing registration certificates from the US Copyright Office
    • Generating mechanical licenses for use of Reservoir’s songs on CDs, vinyl, permanent download, etc.

Position: Creative Publishing Internship
Location: Nashville, TN
Placement Overview:

  • The Creative Publishing internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • The position will be in person at Reservoir’s Nashville office, located at 3209 West End Ave.
  • Creative interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Typing out lyrics for new song turn-ins
    • Tagging new turn-ins for sync purposes
    • Learning how to navigate our chosen software, DISCO
    • Curating pitch lists to pitch songs to their supervisors
    • Updating weekly spreadsheets for new releases
    • Research concerning new signings, acquisitions, etc.

Position: Synch Internship
Location: New York, NY/Remote

  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in person or hybrid (in person/remote).
  • Synch interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Ingesting new releases on a weekly basis, procuring audio and uploading to the Reservoir DISCO
    • Working with the Digital Asset manager toward optimal organization of the Reservoir catalog audio at large in DISCO
    • Helping with setting up metadata spreadsheets to import into DISCO
    • Helping with ingestions of larger catalogs into DISCO / Dropbox

Position: Finance Internship
Location: New York, NY/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • The Music Business Analyst internship offers tangible and educational real-world experience to students pursuing a career in the music industry. Over the course of the summer, interns will participate in strategic meetings, support all facets of each deal process, help solve key business issues, directly network with our senior leadership, and contribute to Reservoir’s continued success.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Intern Responsibilities include:
    • Assisting the acquisitions team with financial modeling of music catalogs, companies and partnerships
    • Conducting music industry research and analyses to help support potential deals and strategic business decisions
    • Create dashboards that consolidate and organize business KPIs that are informative, intuitive, and actionable
    • Build data driven case studies for various teams within the Reservoir music publishing and recorded music businesses to help support key financial and operating decisions for our clients and asset
    • Support the team on a number of deal due diligence and integration efforts
