BLUE RAINCOAT ARTISTS’ EZRA COLLECTIVE TAKE HOME 2023 MERCURY PRIZE

Today, the 2023 Mercury Prize Album of the Year winner was announced, with Blue Raincoat Artists management client Ezra Collective taking home the prize for their acclaimed album Where I’m Meant to Be. With this win, Ezra Collective’s album became the first-ever jazz album to earn the Album of the Year award.
Comprised of Femi Koleoso on drums, TJ Koleoso on bass, Joe-Armon Jones on keys, James Mollison on saxophone and Ife Ogunjobi on trumpet, the jazz quintet also performed “Victory Dance” off their winning album after they collected the trophy.
The Mercury Prize judging panel praised Where I’m Meant to Be for its “virtuosity, community, listening to each other to work out where to go next” and noted the group should be recognized for “achieving musical brilliance…and tapping into a joyous spirit that ensures their album is as fun as it is impressive.” Read more about their historic win here.
