BEN HARPER RELEASES 17TH STUDIO ALBUM ‘BLOODLINE MAINTENANCE’
Date:
Ben Harper released his latest LP, Bloodline Maintenance, on Chrysalis Records today.
Comprised of 11 songs, the album has garnered wide critical acclaim, with American Songwriter noting Harper “lays down a verbal and musical gauntlet” with the project’s personal and political focus. Lead single, “We Need To Talk About It” “bluntly addresses the deep-seated and longstanding wounds of slavery,” per Rolling Stone, with other tracks commenting on climate change, Harper’s own roots, love, and more.
Notably, Harper solely performed the majority of the instruments across the album, spanning from guitar, bass, drums, and a unique assortment of percussion. On the creation of this album he commented, “It was like I was moving forward and venturing into places I had never been before. Taking everything I’ve learned from every other record and kind of setting fire to it all and starting over, and I knew the sounds I was hearing in my head were so unorthodox that I had to do most of it myself.”
Currently, Bloodline Maintenance has been streamed a total of 1.3 million times on Spotify and has been playlisted in editorials across all major DSPs such as Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Amazon, QoBuzz, Tidal, & VEVO.
