RESERVOIR SIGNS CELEBRITY CHEF AND JUNO AWARD-WINNING RECORDING ARTIST ROGER MOOKING TO A WORLDWIDE PUBLISHING DEAL
Date:
Reservoir announces the signing of celebrity chef and award-winning recording artist Roger Mooking to a worldwide music publishing deal. The deal includes rights to Mooking’s entire catalog of works including the recently released solo album Eat Your Words.
Mooking first stepped into the spotlight as a member of the award-winning R&B Soul trio, Bass is Base. The group’s 1994 debut, First Impressions for the Bottom Jigglers, took home the Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording and featured their breakout song “Funkmobile,” which landed the trio an early record contract with A&M Records. The group earned their first Top 20 hit with “I Cry,” off their sophomore album Memories of the Soul Shack Survivors.
Mooking’s solo music career began in 2008 with the release of his debut album, Soul Food. His 2013 sophomore LP, Feedback, was followed by Feedback Acoustic in 2014 and he returns now with his latest release, Eat Your Words. Influenced by Trinidadian Calypso, Venezuelan vibes, classic hip-hop, rock and funk, the nine-track LP is written, produced, and performed by Mooking.
In addition to his two-decade music career, Mooking is perhaps best known for his accomplishments in the culinary world. He is an internationally recognized chef, restaurateur, and television host of such shows as Man Fire Food, Greatest of America, Everyday Exotic, Heat Seekers, and Man’s Greatest Food.
Of this new venture with Reservoir, Mooking says, “As a producer/writer I am excited to partner with the Reservoir family to find new opportunities for my craft. The balance of a boutique with the reach of the majors sits right in my sweet spot, we can grow together.”
Adds Reservoir SVP of Creative and A&R Spek, “It’s not often you get to work with someone you’ve known since you were both teenagers. I couldn’t be prouder of Roger and how far he has come on the global stage as an entrepreneur, chef, television personality, and artist, still making inventive hip-hop! It’s awesome to be able to work together and bring him into the Reservoir family.”
