RESERVOIR TEAMS WITH MUSIC MEETS VIDEO FOR COVER CONTEST
Date:
Reservoir is offering the purveyors of cover culture–that subset of music lovers whose talent gets shared and sometimes discovered through the posting of cover performances on outlets like Youtube and Vine–a chance to air their own musical thoughts, in our first-ever A&R Cover Contest featuring Reservoir A&R execs Faith Newman and Spek.
The contest, which runs for about three more weeks on the online network Music Meets Video, gives entrants a choice of four pop songs from the Reservoir catalog to use to show off their wares:
1. Current radio fave and 10-country #1 “Lean On”, performed by Major Lazer, DJ Snake, and MØ (Reservoir writer Karen Marie “MØ” Ørsted)
2. Island-inflected Euro-crossover hit “When The Beat Drops Out”, performed by Marlon Roudette (Reservoir writer Jamie Hartman)
3. UK #1 debut single “Hold My Hand”, performed by Jess Glynne (Reservoir/Reverb Music writer Ina Wroldsen)
4. Pop-meets-R&B contemporary classic “Impossible”, performed by Shontelle and later James Arthur (Reservoir/Reverb Music writer Ina Wroldsen)
Once all videos are in, the judges at MMV will deliberate with the help of Reservoir’s A&R team to see which performers bring an original touch to their track of choice. The winner will then get to play their original music for the Reservoir A&R team for some precious professional feedback to guide them in their budding careers.
