Scott Storch has been teasing the promise of new EDM projects for some time, and today the world got its first taste of what’s in store in the form of “The Calvary”, an energetic new track that sees Storch teamed up with Steven Lee (aka Lee Cabrera of “Shake It” success).

DJ Mag picked up the piece, praising its challenging song structure, and posted it alongside their extensive interview with Storch and Lee. The article offers insight into both producers’ range of songwriting influences: “The inspiration was actually movie-based — while we were vibing in the studio, in the backdrop on mute was a crazy war movie on Netflix and that gave us the idea for this upbeat, pump-up record,” Storch says of the origin of “The Calvary”.

A recent Billboard magazine feature revealed even more about Storch’s reemergence into the pop music spotlight, covering everything from the producer’s past substance abuse problems to the optimistic outlook of his new work, which Storch promises is “twenty times better” than anything he created during more tumultuous years.
