DRAKE WINS, CELINE DION NOMINATED AT 2013 JUNO AWARDS

This past weekend saw the 42nd annual installment of the Juno Awards, Canada’s Grammy equivalent and one of the country’s premiere pop cultural traditions.
For the second year in a row, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences honored Drake with one of its top prizes, awarding Video of the Year to his hit “HYFR” The hardware itself was presented to Director X, who oversaw the production and whose finished product includes a brief but impactful contribution from Lil Wayne.
In what has become a seemingly annual tradition of celebrating the Toronto-born hip-hop superstar, Drake was also nominated for the Juno Fan Choice Award, alongside Celine Dion, Carly Rae Jepsen, Leonard Cohen, and eventual winner Justin Bieber, among others.
Dion, meanwhile, was also honored with Album of the Year and Adult Contemporary Album of the Year nominations for her 2012 French language album, Sans Attendre. The release features the ballad duet “L’Amour Peut Prendre Froid,” performed with French entertainment royalty Johnny Hallyday and penned in part by PurePop writer Mary Ann Redmond.
