Date:
Today, 3x Grammy winner, singer, songwriter, and producer Ben Harper announced his new album Wide Open Light will be released June 2nd via Chrysalis Records. Harper also released the album’s first single, “Yard Sale,” featuring his long-time friend and collaborator Jack Johnson.
Harper’s Bazaar featured Harper for an interview on Wide Open Light. In the interview, Harper described the upcoming album of 11 songs as an evolution and his “exploring my way to being 53 years old.” Harper’s Bazaar also noted the upcoming release is “a stripped-down, minimally-produced meditation on love, loss, and longing.”
Additionally, Rock & Blues Muse reported on “Yard Sale,” describing the single as a “delicate, acoustic breakup song that mourns the end of what feels like a significant relationship.” Harper also explained the song, noting it “follows a man through the final blurred stages of a breakup. With each passing verse, the couple grows further beyond reach or repair. By the song’s end, he’s more confused than when the song began.”
