Earlier this year, Los Bitchos released their debut album, Let The Festivities Begin!. The London-based band is comprised of Serra Petale (guitar), Augustina Ruiz (keys), Josefine Jonsson (bass) and Nicola Crawshaw (drums). Hailing from all across the globe, each member contributes distinctive musical influences to the group’s self-named genre of “instrumental psychedelic sunshine Cumbia,” a folkloric genre and dance from Colombia.
Since releasing their album, Los Bitchos have been capturing fans and impressing critics, with significant radio play across Latin America. Notably, Deezer created a new Latin-Indie playlist, “Explosión Indie,” which featured Los Bitchos’ “The Link Is About To Die.” Additionally, “The Link Is About To Die” and “Pista (Fresh Start)” have garnered support on radio stations across Mexico and Columbia, with the songs boasting multiple weekly plays on stations like Mexico’s Reactor and Rock 101.
Additionally, Let The Festivities Begin! has also generated critical acclaim, with Los Bitchos featured in several interviews in key Latin American outlets through print, digital, and social media. The band has gained massive exposure, reaching millions of people across the continent with coverage including Argentina’s Pagina 12 and Revista Oh Lala!, Mexico’s 24 Horas, Me Hace Ruido, Cronica, and Vibras, Chile’s POTQ, and Brazil’s TMDQA. 24 Horas lauded Los Bitchos’ release, saying, “Let The Festivities Begin! … captures not only the diversity of the band and its members, but also their desire to convey a message of optimism and joy in the face of the pandemic.” Additionally, Cronica called the debut a “record to get the party started.”
