In addition to a #1 album, a #1 single, and an upcoming headlining tour, Reservoir songwriter 2 Chainz can add two MTV Video Music Awards nods to his accomplishments this summer.

2 Chainz earned two nominations in the Best Hip-Hop Video category for “Mercy” with Kanye West, Big Sean, and Pusha T and “Beez In The Trap” with Nicki Minaj.  Kanye West and Nicki Minaj appear respectively on “Birthday Song” and “I Luv Dem Strippers” on 2 Chainz’ debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story.

Both the “Mercy” and “Beez In The Trap” music videos have fared well to date, with 12.8 million Youtube views for the former and a staggering 61.5 million views for the latter.  The videos contend with Childish Gambino’s “Heartbeat,” Drake and Lil Wayne’s “HYFR,” and Watch The Throne’s “Paris” for the Best Hip-Hop Video prize.
