2 CHAINZ & LIL WAYNE DROP ‘COLLEGROVE’
Date:
Rap royalty 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne have dropped their long awaited collaborative album ColleGrove today. Named after their hometowns (Chainz is from College Park, Georgia and Wayne hails from the Hollygrove neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisana), ColleGrove includes 13 tracks that feature Chainz, with Wayne assisting on eight cuts.
The rollout for ColleGrove has been ripe with new content. The pair debuted “Rolls Royce Weather Everyday”, the first single from the album, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, last month, and premiered the track “Gotta Lotta” on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 Radio show mere hours before the album dropped. Chainz also shared a teaser video for the upcoming video for the cut “Bounce” which features the duo engaging in a playful rap battle.
While Chainz and Wayne are the only two rappers to appear on ColleGrove, they have relied on their famous friends and fellow rappers for support in promoting the project. The album announcement caused quite a stir earlier this week, when Kanye West tweeted the release date and album cover. Meanwhile, reigning king of social media app Snapchat DJ Khaled took to the platform to tease track snippets yesterday ahead of the album’s release.
